Dear Residents of District 3,

As I approach the completion of my ninth year as your Councilman, I reflect back on the many successes that we have enjoyed together. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the residents of Sugar Land and am proud of my participation in helping run such an efficient and effective government. However, there is still a lot of work to be done – and many concerns that face us: the economy, our aging infrastructure, major new projects, potential impact of continued population growth and so on.

I am often asked for election advice by citizens.  Most are not able to meet all of the candidates, and if they do meet them, can’t judge their ability in such a short time.  As an elected official, I typically try to remain neutral in local and county elections.  However, in the races for our City Council positions, I happen to know all of the candidates fairly well, and after seeing the election results, I am compelled to offer my strong endorsement for Amy Mitchell in the District 3 run-off election.  We need someone who will represent all of the residents of the City, be a consensus builder, and a team player.  That person for District 3 is Amy Mitchell and I humbly ask that you join me in supporting and voting for her.

I have known Amy for many years and have seen her commitment to the community.  As President of the Sugar Land Exchange Club, she has demonstrated clear and successful leadership.  She has proven her willingness to make tough fiscal decisions, and has worked hard to make the Exchange Club one of the premier service organizations in the county through civic, philanthropic, and community service.  She has the necessary educational background, knowledge of the city, professionalism, dedication and communication skills to be the next City Council member.  Perhaps more importantly, she is a consensus builder and will work hard to represent all citizens of Sugar Land.   Amy has worked with and represented many different community groups and special interests to be sure that their voices are heard.

The early voting for run-off election is underway, May 31 to June 7 and the run-off election on Saturday 11 June 2011.   Please vote for Amy Mitchell for City Council, District 3, for the City of Sugar Land

WE MADE IT…

The election results are in!  I am thrilled to announce that I will be in a runoff on June 11th with Mr Paul. We will need everyone’s help to win the runoff.

I was truly honored to receive a call from Sugar Land City Councilman Michael Schiff who informed me that he is openly endorsing Amy Mitchell for Sugar Land City Council.   Former city council member Dennis Parmer has also advised that he is endorsing and supporting me as well.
